Qualcomm has scheduled an event for May 20, 2022, in China. As a result, it’s become known as the Snapdragon Night.Weibo, China’s microblogging service, was used to make the announcement. President and CEO of Qualcomm, Cristiano Amon, called it “a huge day for Snapdragon Insiders.” The firm has stated that it will be releasing a new Snapdragon platform on that day, and we believe the debutants will be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus and the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1.
The Specs of the Snapdragon 820 Gen 1+ (Expected)
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ (SM8475) is said to be built on TSMC’s 4nm manufacturing process. It can be configured with a single Cortex X2 core (clocked at 2.99GHz), three Cortex A710 performance cores, and four Cortex A510 efficiency cores. Rumor has it that you’ll see a 10% boost in CPU performance and a 5% boost in graphics rendering.
The Motorola Frontier 22, OnePlus 10 Ultra, Xiaomi 12 Ultra, and other phones that could come out in the second half of 2022 are among the first to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus.
The Specs of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 (Expected)
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 is likely to be the company’s next midrange chip following the change in nomenclature. It can be equipped with four A710 performance cores clocked at 2.36GHz and four A510 efficiency cores clocked at 1.8GHz. An Adreno 662 GPU may be used for the visuals.
It’s possible that the OPPO Reno 8, which is set to go on sale on May 23rd, may be the first device to use Snapdragon 7 Gen 1.
So prior to that, there is an event on May 20 hosted by Qualcomm. On the so-called Snapdragon Night, we’ll see what the chipmaker has in store for us.
